The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Tribute by RynoZebz The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Tribute by RynoZebz
Well, after several days of scraping together time to paint, I finally managed to finish off my Legend of Zelda illustration. I took some chances and varied my approach when it came to this piece. It didn't quite come out how I'd hoped but I still think it's pretty fun and I learned a lot for the next time when I dive into a work like this. And I was painting freakin' Link! So how awesome is that?! Ha!

I hope you guys liked how it turned out and enjoyed watching my progress as I moved along. There's something that I really loved about the original sketch and over the course of the illustration I just lost some of it. But I'm still satisfied and ready to move on to something new. I think I'll be working on more sketchy stuff for a while. Between this piece and work I'm getting a bit tired of working so tightly.

At any rate, I just wanted to get it posted! I was pretty sure I'd do a small print run of this but I want to see how the reception is first before I plop down any cash. I know the feel of it is a little different from some of my other work I've previously posted. Let me know what you think and I'll keep you updated on whether or not I print them off! Thanks for looking and happy Monday! Have a great week, guys!

EDIT: JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW! If you're interested there are limited edition prints available of this image! Head over to my store via the link below! Thanks!

Beautiful work! It looks like the cover of a book I'd love to read. I like the vivid colours and the way you use light and shadow to emphasize aspects of the painting (the brilliance of the sword in contrast with the understated gleam of the water, for example); they give me such a sense of serenity, wonder, and adventure. I like how the fairies resemble the clouds - bright and a little out of focus. And I love the chance you've taken with Link's figure; he strikes me as a mixture between the retro and Wind Waker versions of Link. I love his button nose!

Ha! Thanks a lot! You hit the nail on the head! I'm glad it looks like a book cover as that was what I was hoping for. A children's illustration of sorts. Glad you like it!

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier, it's been kind of a crazy day. Looking good man! Adding that second fairy was a great idea, and really helps draw your eye back in from the bird.

And I heart the super mario mushrooms.

As long as you're pleased then I am also pleased. ;o) Struggled and felt like I rushed it a bit at the end. I would have done some things differently but I'm glad it turned out ok. People seem to like it! Hope you're liking Skyward Sword! Oh, and you're paintings are totally improving! You'll be up to my level in no time at all!

this is brilliant because it totally captures all the magic that The Legend of Zelda is in general and perfectly portrays the tale of the young hero in green who is not afraid to wield his sword against the evil lord just for saving that princess that will probably get kidnapped again shortly after he has saved her XD The colours of this piece are simply beautiful, so bright and full of life.

Yeah, it's pretty stinkin awesome if you ask me. :D Hope you don't mind but I submitted this artwork to the Daily Deviations group here on dA in the hope that it'll be recommended and awarded a Daily Deviation. If that happens then you could be seeing upwards of 10,000 views on this artwork in just one day!
